Teens to hear inspiring stories

Young people living with the effects of a brain injury will hear from two unique individuals who have moved forward after their own life-changing experiences. ‘Where’s Your Head At?’, a teen event hosted by The Children’s Trust at the Chessington World of Adventures Resort, will feature talks from Phil Packer MBE and Johnson Beharry VC. The event takes place on Sunday, April 28th, and is aimed at young people aged between 14 and 18. Mr Packer, a vice-president of the Trust, sustained severe spinal injuries while serving as a British Provost officer in Iraq. Lance Corporal Johnson Beharry VC sustained a brain injury while serving in Iraq and was awarded the Victoria Cross in 2005. He has since gone on to appear in ITV’s Dancing on Ice, reaching the semi-finals. “Knowing firsthand what it’s like to have sustained a brain injury, I’m really pleased to have the opportunity to speak to other young people at this event,” Lance Corporal Beharry said. “I’ve found it helpful talking about my experiences and how my life has changed since my injury and am looking forward to hearing about their experiences too.” Read more about the event, including timings here. You can also download a booking form. Tickets must be booked in advance by April 17, and each ticket includes entrance to the Chessington World of Adventures resort.
