Teenager battles gigantism following brain tumour

Keiran Halliday has grown four inched taller in a year after being diagnosed.

The 19-year-old had a rare tumour in his pituitary gland which was removed last December. However he is now growing at a rapid rate due to the condition known as gigantism. The pea-sized pituitary gland – located at the base of the brain – makes hormones that control many functions in the body and when a tumour grows on the gland, it makes more growth hormone than the body needs and results in gigantism. Click here to read how Keiran is coping with the condition.
