Snowboarder uses brain injury to educate

Kevin Pearce was an Olympics snowboard hopeful before an accident which altered the course of his life.

The 27-year-old has since become the subject of HBO documentary, The Crash Reel and the Love Your Brain social movement. He has also recently been visiting high schools in the US. Pearce was considered a lock to make the 2010 U.S. Olympic team, but a traumatic brain injury suffered in training landed him in critical care for 34 days. Read Kevin's story. Two years later, after doctors forced him to retire, his memory still was impaired and major eye surgery was needed. He has since founded the Love Your Brain movement to educate and empower through a mindful approach that concentrates on brain injury prevention and rehabilitation. His school talks focus on the ways to help keep a brain strong, with meditation and yoga.
