Short breaks under threat?

An investigation has revealed that 40 per cent of councils intend to cut spending on short breaks for disabled children this year.  The research, carried out by Mencap, also found that more than 60 per cent of councils cut provision last year.  And the disability charity has warned that the ‘lifeline’ of outside care for families will continue be eroded because central Government funding for short breaks has not been ring-fenced.  Read the full story at Children and Young People Now.
