Research 'could give insight' into neuro disorders

A new study has found that male and female brains are ‘wired’ completely differently.

US researchers at the University of Pennsylvania believe the study of close to 1,000 people may explain why women excel at some tasks while men excel at others. Dr Ruben Gur said the study’s ‘connectome maps’ show that male brains are wired front to back, with fewer connections bridging the left and right hemispheres. The connections in female brains criss-cross between left and right, however. He said: "Detailed connectome maps of the brain will not only help us better understand the differences between how men and women think, but it will also give us more insight into the roots of neurological disorders, which are often sex related."
