R-word campaign

The campaign aims to stop the use of offensive words in the media to refer to people with a learning disability.

The UK's leading learning disability charity, Mencap is launching the campaign, which will start in the next few months.   It will be urging people on television, radio and newspapers to stop using words such as 'retard', 'spastic' and 'mong'. The charity is also asking people to get in contact if they hear offensive words being used in the media. Read more about the campaign here.
