Government pledges to improve child health

The Children’s Trust has welcomed a new commitment from the Government to improve children’s health. A new pledge has promised to establish a board to give leadership on children’s health, a forum to monitor progress and a more joined up approach to Special Educational Needs and disabilities. The Government’s pledge is part of its response to an independent panel of experts, tasked last year with looking at the proposed NHS reforms. Andrew Ross, chief executive of The Children’s Trust, said: “It is heartening to see this commitment from the Government to improving children and young people’s health, which we know has historically been given too low a priority by the NHS. "There are many opportunities for improvements amongst all the reforms in health and special educational needs and this appears to be another positive step forward.” Read the Government's pledge here.
