People with disabilities invited to a behind-the-scenes insight into the world of digital media.

The free event will also highlight career opportunities within Future Media for top tech talent with disabilities. Hear first-hand about the opportunities of working on a product like iPlayer, Analytics, Software Engineering and Technical Project Management.  Meet disabled employees and find out what it's like working for the BBC and the support we provide for staff. It is being run by BBC Future Media; the team responsible for designing, developing and running digital services like iPlayer, BBC websites and the Red Button - along with the creation of games and apps for other BBC departments such as Children’s, Learning and News. Event Details: Friday 6th March 2015 | 09:30 -18:00 During the day you will get the opportunity to: 
  • Visit the Blue Room – a media tech demo lab which showcases the existing and emerging technologies shaping the future of digital media
  • Hear more about the various applications of tech at the BBC through a series of mini masterclasses
  • Participate in a Think Tank – hosted by BBC News Disability Correspondent Nikki Fox – and share your thoughts on how the tech sector can more effectively support different abilities and create a culture of inclusivity
  • Enjoy an expert development workshop which focuses on personal branding and which will give you tools and tips for personal & professional self-belief when overcoming unconscious biases within the workplace
  • Hear from inspirational presenters – including Dr Phil Friend, international speaker, equal opportunities champion and author of the acclaimed book ‘Why are you pretending to be normal?’
  • Learn more about the range of rewarding and interesting career opportunities for top tech talent in BBC Future Media
As a disabled person who would like to attend you must:
  1. Work in or wish to work in digital / online media
  2. Hold relevant skills and experience in digital media and technology, for example:
  • UX Designer
  • Product/Project Manager
  • Web Developer/Coder
  • Software Engineer
  • Business Analyst
  • Data Analyst
  • Tester
  • Accessibility Specialist etc…
  • OR if you're just out of University you will have done a relevant degree like Computer Science or similar
