Formula One driver in ‘critical but stable condition’

Jules Bianchi sustained a brain injury following Japanese Grand Prix.

The family released this news of his condition as it’s revealed he suffered diffuse axonal injury. The 25-year-old had brain surgery following the accident on Sunday (5 October) in which his car hit another vehicle. The family statement added: "This is a very difficult time for our family, but the messages of support and affection for Jules from all over the world have been a source of great comfort to us." Former F1 doctor Gary Hartstein said "We can't really say anything about prognosis right now. This has to be given time." Read more here.   What is diffuse axonal injury?
