European Month of the Brain comes to a close

Did you know that May has been European Month of the Brain?

Over these last weeks, decision-makers, healthcare professionals and researchers have been coming together for a series of events designed to raise awareness about the brain. The European Commission believes that brain-related disorders affect at least one in three people, and the cost of treatment and care costs around 800 billion Euro in Europe each year. European Month of the Brain aims to raise the level of investment and interest in research into "deciphering how our brain works". It follows US president Barack Obama's April launch of a flagship "brain mapping" project (read our story). Read more about European Month of the Brain and its events.
