Call for delay to SEN reform

Campaigners have called for a delay in the Government’s planned overhaul of the support for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The Children and Families Bill – due to be introduced into Parliament next year – aims to remove ‘bureaucratic barriers’ for families accessing services.

But some fear the bill will be introduced before changes have been properly tested. This week, the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) called for the bill to be delayed to allow more time to gather evidence from the pilot schemes taking place across the country.
