Coronation Street advised by brain injury charity

Current storyline in soap depicts a character living with the effects of brain injury.

Headway, which has bases across the UK, helped the actor, Ben Price and scriptwriters understand the effects and impact of brain injury. The storyline saw Ben's character, Nick Tilsley have an operation to remove a blood clot on his brain following a car crash. When he woke from his coma, his personality had changed- a common effect following a brain injury. Mark Hollinghurst of Headway said: "It's very positive to see brain injury being portrayed sensitively in a programme like Coronation Street which is watched by millions of people. "I hope it increases awareness and educates people on the impact brain injury can have on families and carers. Read the full story here.
