Challenge to plans to scrap Independent Living Fund

Government plans to scrap a £320m scheme that supports people with severe disabilities is being challenged today (Wednesday). The High Court will begin hearing a challenge from six people with disabilities, who are challenging the move to close the Independent Living Fund (ILF) in 2015. They fear that plans for local authorities to take over funding for the 19,000 people who receive payments from the ILF will result in people being forced out of independent living arrangements.
