Can hypothermia prevent brain injuries?

A £2 million study aims to find out if cooling the bodies of people with head injuries could help protect the brain. The research, led by Edinburgh University, will look at whether inducing hypothermia in patients would prevent further brain injury. It’s through that hypothermia places patients in a state of ‘artificial hibernation’, which would reduce pressure in the brain.  Read The Scotsman's story here.
