Campaign to help GPs spot brain injury

A leading charity has launched a campaign to help family doctors identify the ‘hidden’ symptoms of acquired brain injury.

Headway has created a new online resource to help GPs diagnose, manage and refer patients affected by brain injury. The campaign is a response to the experiences of people with acquired brain injury, many of whom report that their GP does not understand their symptoms, or does not have the tools of information to help them. "We have to reduce the number of people slipping through the net and not receiving the help and support they need,” said Headway chief executive Peter McCabe. “Unless people receive the right help at the right time following brain injury, the damage can be life changing."
