Cambridge University to develop new brain injury technology

A team of Cambridge University scientists has been awarded £800,000 to develop a bedside brain imaging device. The machine – which will allow hospital doctors to see images of patients’ brains - will be developed by a team from Addenbrooke’s Hospital and the University of Cambridge. As things stand, high quality images of patients’ brains are available only at a handful of specialist centres. The team also hopes to create an iPad app to detect memory problems, a machine which picks up on seizures and better tracking of brain injury patients after they leave hospital.
