Artist with brain injury at prestigious gallery

A prestigious art gallery is exhibiting the work of an artist who sustained a brain injury.  The Eli Ridgway Gallery in San Francisco has staged ‘On a Clear Day We Were Lightning’, the work of James Sterling Pitt, who was involved in a road traffic accident in 2007.
James Stirling Pitt's work has been conceived as a 'journal'
After his injury, Mr Pitt  – in the words of one art critic – “turned to recreating once familiar objects as a way of putting the pieces back together”.  His current exhibition was conceived as a journal, using the objects the artist has created as markers of different places and experiences. The gallery also staged an event which saw neuropsychologists and other clinicians discuss the effects on traumatic physical injury on creativity.  Visit the gallery website here.
