Acquired brain injury report in Lancet Neurology

The journal publishes correspondence from All-Party Parliamentary Group on Acquired Brain Injury following it's Time for Change report.

The article in Lancet Neurology, by academic David K Menon and Chris Bryant MP, addresses the specific and complex needs of those with an acquired brain injury in the UK.   It centres on the Time for Change report produced by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Acquired Brain Injury. On children and young people it states: “Many survivors of acquired brain injury are children and young people. However, many education professionals do not have awareness and understanding of acquired brain injury, which hampers educational progress and neglects an important opportunity for rehabilitation in the school environment. “The report recommends inclusion of acquired brain injury in the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice, and that education professionals should have a minimum level of awareness and understanding about acquired brain injury, with additional training for named lead professionals.” You can read more about the report here. Resources for education professionals on childhood brain injury include an education section on the Brain Injury Hub and the Must try harder DVD. Books of interest to teachers include:
