National Conference on Growing Audiences for Audio Description

Birmingham Hippodrome
Hurst Street, Southside, Birmingham, West Midlands

14 March 2016, 10.00-17.00pm

In partnership with RNIB, the Audio Description Association is holding the first national conference on audio description of the century, exploring why audiences choose to come to audio described events (or not) and how venues can increase take up for audio description. Panels of users and non-users of audio description services will tell us what makes them decide whether or not to attend an audio described event, and identify ways in which venues and describers can encourage repeat visits and attract first timers. Service providers and users will confront the factors affecting attendance, share models of good practice and investigate innovative and concrete strategies to increase engagement, a sense of ownership, ticket sales and ancillary income for venues. Lively debate will focus on issues of perception, provision, programming, pricing, new technologies, and the quality of the audio description experience.   The National Conference on Growing Audiences for Audio Description is organised by the Audio Description Association, which exists to promote standards in audio description nationally, in partnership with the Royal National Institute of Blind People. £95 per delegate How to book: Further information available from  ADA Booking Form
